BORO v SPURS TIP

Now this is what I call an important match and as a Tottenham Hotspur fan, I have very little option other than to back Spurs to come out on top.

However I am also a realist and accept that Middlesbrough have as much to play for as Spurs and are more than capable of winning this match.

But personally, considering all that this match carries with it and the pressure that both teams will be under, I believe that the best course of action is to take the middle road.

Middlesbrough basically have their early season form to thank for being in this position today, while Spurs can look at their mid to end of season form to thank for being where they are and in there lies the crux of this match up.

Middlesbrough just don't fill anyone with confidence anymore. They blow hot and cold from one week to the next and in my opinion, that is down to their manager. He basically fails to be the motivator they so badly need and as a Spurs fan I am the first to tell you that you need a manager than can lift you.

Spurs on the other hand just go from strength to strength. Just ask Aston Villa and it is unfortunate for Middlesbrough that they are coming up against their biggest rivals for the final UEFA cup place at a time when Spurs are firing on all cylinders.

Spurs have a very young and exciting team, and while Middlesbrough also have some young talent, they are also very reliant on the blue rinse brigade and it has done them no good this season and until McClaren realises this, I suspect that Middlesbrough will continue to under achieve.

Martin Jol has injected confidence into the Spurs team as well as some great tactical awareness. He has created a young dynamic team that can only get better and what better way to start then to qualify for Europe.

I accept that home field advantage is important but if I am brutally honest, I don't think it will make much difference in this match. Spurs can take a draw, Middlesbrough realistically cannot.

Middlesbrough have to win, Spurs need to avoid defeat. Middlesbrough will be forced to attack, Spurs can rely on their counter attacks.

All in all I cannot see Spurs losing. I feel there is more chance of a draw or Spurs win than a Middlesbrough win.

The best course of action that I would suggest is to lay Middlesbrough @ 2.5 on Betfair.

Good luck
