MAN CITY v BORO TOP TIP
Very important match this for both sides. The chances are that one of these two will qualify for Europe at the end of this match with Middlesbrough needing a draw and city needing a win.
Both sides have something going for them. Middlesbrough do not need a win. A draw will suffice but Man City are on a great run and are at home with the manager now confirmed as permanent. So both sides can turn to some positives prior to this game.
I believe Man City will prevail though and the reason behind it is their current form. They are unbeaten in their last seven, are full of confidence and as mentioned, are at home.
Middlesbrough themselves are on a five match unbeaten run and if they were at home then I would be tempted to back them. But they are not and with five away wins all season, they hardly inspire confidence.
Man City have lost five times at home but in all fairness, that was when they were playing without confidence under Keegan. Under Pearce they are a different proposition altogether.
Middlesbrough are too inconsistent. They have a manager that flatters to deceive and who probably will adopt Sven Goran Ericksons tactics and stick eleven men behind the ball. If he does that it will be a mistake.
The advantage is certainly with Middlesbrough in the quest for Europe. They just need to avoid a defeat, but that in itself can bring a host of problems, not least of tactics, and again McClaren just does not do it for me.
Middlesbrough have been left wanting far too often this season and on occasions their players have looked deflated and that is all down to the manager.
All in all I see this match developing with Man City on full attack and when they score, as I believe they will, Middlesbrough will then try to get that equalizer. I don't think they will.
My selection is for a Man City win @ 2.10 with Bet365
