EARLY BIRD GETS THE WORM
Some of the bookies are already putting up prices for next season's Premiership. As is expected, the top three are very short with everyone else's odds being a lot bigger, and rightfully so.
However it seems to me that some teams have been very overpriced.
Middlesbrough are 350/1 with Totesport, very big indeed. They make Spurs 150/1 and Everton 200/1
Surely Middlesbrough must have as much chance, if not more, of causing an upset by winning the title, so why the huge price difference?
The answer is that there is no reason, it's the opinions of the odds compilers at each of the bookies and the odds compiler at Totesport obviously gives Middlesbrough no chance.
But ask yourself this; are Middlesbrough only likely to win the title once in 350 years?
Well in my opinion Middlesbrough are big outsiders but not by that much. Other bookies offer Middlesbrough at 150/1 and that is more realistic.
And imagine if Middlesbrough get off to a flying start, say four wins on the trot. Their odds would plummet.
The opportunity to trade here is awesome. Middlesbrough are huge at 350/1 and would be great to have in your back pocket.
Those familiar with betting exchanges will be in the envious position of trading out and guaranteeing huge profits.
And what's the worse that could happen? You stick a fiver on Middlesbrough and they fail miserably.
But if the unbelievable did happen and they did manage to win the title, you would be £1750 better off.
And the best thing about all this is that Totesport will even match your bet for up to £25 if you are a new customer.
So in theory, if you stick a fiver on, you are actually sticking on a tenner, even better for trading and for bigger returns.
But then again, let's be realistic. Shocks just don't happen like that, do they?
Teams like Middlesbrough just cannot win titles against the big three? Impossible. That would be like saying a team like Greece could win the European championships.
