MIDDLESBROUGH v ARSENAL SPREAD BETTING TIPS
by Miusoccer

It seems that I have a challenger on here in good old Harry Haverton although his performance in midweek leaves a lot to be desired. Amateur time is over people and the pro is back.

Today I have decided to take on the spread betting companies and have found a juicy little bet that we can do from Sporting Index.

Middlesbrough's last home performance against Charlton was nothing short of a joke and they deserve all the criticism they have received, especially the manager. But they have a golden opportunity here to lift themselves and the fans with a good performance to the fallen giants Arsenal.

Arsenal are not as good as they were last season. They started off 2004/05 in sparkling form, knocking everyone out of their path until they ran into Manchester United that is. They have gone steadily downhill ever since.

The sale of Vierra was hardly the greatest piece of business by Wenger and with that stadium of their's being a huge albatross around their necks, they are nothing short of a patchwork team this season.

Middlesbrough have flattered to deceive but then haven't they always? All the pre season hype - same as last year - has come to nothing so far. Maybe Gibson will soon realise what the whole country already knows and that is that McClaren is useless.

But in all fairness Middlesbrough can turn it on when they have to. They stuffed Birmingham like the proverbial turkey and that performance shows that they are capable of putting a fine win together. They were unlucky against Spurs really and they are certainly better than the 3-0 loss to Charlton.

Arsenal are always built up and the teams they face are always underestimated, Chelsea and Manchester United apart, and the same appears to be the case here. I just cannot see Middlesbrough putting on another poor home display. I fully expect them to put up a decent performance, even if they succumb to the London French boys.

Arsenal may well win this match and so may Middlesbrough. It's certainly a hard one to call and so for me it all came down to anticipated performance and as stated above, no matter the result I do expect Middlesbrough to perform better and it is from that angle that I have decided to do a spread bet on the match this weekend.

Sporting Index have a Middlesbrough performance index and the spread has been set at 24-28 and we are going to buy at that price.

Sporting Index have set the following points:

Win 25 points
Draw 10 points
Goal 15 points
Clean sheet 10 points
Woodwork 10 points (must bounce back into play)
Corner 3 points
Yellow card 5 points
Red Card -15 points

By buying I am hoping that Middlesbrough gain more than 28 points. A target I believe that Middlesbrough will surpass.

The risks are there for all to see. Lose the match and get a couple of players sent off and the bookie will have had a great day. But score a goal and get a few corners and its payout time, and if the Boro manage to win, well Barbados here I come.

Because of the risks involved in a market like this I would recommend absolute minimum stakes and for me that is just a single point.
