MIDDLESBROUGH'S UEFA CUP ODDS TUMBLE
As expected the odds on Boro actually winning the Uefa Cup have fallen again after Britain's last but one European representative outclassed previous favourites Roma.
That's twice in two seasons that Boro have beaten the current competition favourites as SS Lazio were odds on before we took them apart last season.
As there are still five ruond of 16 matches to be played tonight and only three teams actually through to Friday's quarter-final draw so far, the coupons will change significantly overnight and Boro's odds could yet again shorten if one or more of the bigger teams are knocked out this evening, Real Betis or Schalke 04 for example.
Whatever happens tonight, the field will narrow to eight and it is inevitable that the odds on Boro today will not be valid after tonight's matches. Here's what's on offer at the moment.
Victor Chandler have Boro at 9/2, again as second favourites behind Sevilla and 4/1 and in front of Schalke and Betis at 7/1 and 8/1 with the rest starting at 9/1. VC are currently offering a free £60 for the duration of the Cheltenham Festival and a bet on the Uefa Cup winner qualifies you for this limited offer. Be quick though - the offer is only available until Saturday.
Paddy Power have Sevilla installed as favourites at 7/2 and Middlesbrough as second favourites at 4/1. Schalke are third favourites at 15/2 and Rapid Bucharest are fourth at 9/1. The rest of the field starts at 10/1. You also get a free £10 bet when you open a new account with Paddy Power.
Bet 365 also have Sevilla installed as favourites at 7/2 and Middlesbrough as second favourites at 9/2. Schalke are also third favourites at 13/2 and Zenit St Petersburg are fourth at 9/1. The rest of the field starts at 10/1. You also qualify for a free £100 bet basket when you open a new account with Bet 365.
Coral have Boro priced at 4/1 behind favourites Sevilla at 7/2 and then Schalke 04 and Zenit St Petersburg at 7/1 and 8/1 respectively. The remaining teams start at 9/1. Coral are offering a free £10 bet to new customers.
As I mentioned earlier, these odds will almost certainly be only valid for today so best not to delay if you want to back Middlesbrough to lift the Uefa Cup in Eindhoven in May. And as our name seems to be on the cup this year, it seems the only sensible thing to do.
