GRAND NATIONAL - FRED DONE HOPING FOR LOSER
by Manchester Evening News
Fred Done, the owner of the world's biggest independent bookmaker, is hoping that come Grand National day he will be writing a cheque for £1m to the NSPCC.

Big-hearted Fred has been named Britain's Bravest Bookie for taking two huge bets for this Saturday's race on horses named Le Duc and Le Roi Miguel.
What makes Fred even braver is that he will be taking on a Rich List trio of entrepreneur Philip Green, Mr 'M & S' Stuart Rose and the man with the X factor Simon Cowell who are behind the record breaking charity bet.
When asked why he took the bets, Fred explained: "I heard the story that the three guys bid a fortune in a charity auction some time ago to help raise funds for the Tsunami Appeal.
"They bid for the chance to own Le Duc for Grand National day and then wanted to place a large bet on him for the big race.
"When I said yes they decided to double their chances by having an identical bet on Le Roi Miguel.
"The big high street bookmakers ran shy but as people know I'm no stranger to big bets, so I agreed to pay £1m for winning, £250k for second, £100k third and £50k fourth.
"Just imagine if they get a finish first and second!"
The horses are owned by city financier Andy Stewart and trained by Paul Nicholls. Two other charities will also benefit from the windfall; they are The Children's Charity and Save The Children.
Fred added: "I never thought I would hear myself say this but I really want to lose these bets. I think Philip, Stuart and Simon are tremendously generous and deserve a lot of credit for taking the chance. The NSPCC is a great cause to support."
Fred could be flying back especially from his Far East holiday, so eager is he to give the £1m to the trio, and more importantly, the NSPCC.
Le Duc was originally priced at 25-1; Fred has given 40-1 and 66-1 about Le Roi Miguel, and guaranteed the winnings of £1m for either horse.
