McCLAREN NEW ENGLAND FAVOURITE 12-4-06
By Betting Zone.
Bet Direct have reacted to reports that Steve McClaren has had a second interview for the England job by making him odds-on favourite for the post at 10/11.
The Daily Mirror said that the Middlesbrough boss met FA chief executive Brian Barwick "and his inner sanctum" on Monday.
McClaren is understood to be the first candidate to have been interviewed for a second time with Martin O'Neill, Alan Curbishley and Sam Allardyce scheduled to be interviewed in the next two weeks.
However the Boro boss played down those suggestions ahead of his side's FA Cup quarter-final replay with Charlton.
"I haven't got a clue," asserted McClaren. "There have been stories for the last couple of months, and there are going to be stories until a decision is made."
McClaren's prospects have been bolstered significantly in recent weeks by Middlesbrough's UEFA Cup run while Wednesday night's clash with the Addicks will inevitably be billed as McClaren v Curbishley.
Sporting Odds still have McClaren at 13/8 whilst Paddy Power and Total Bet suspended their 'Next England Manager' markets.
The hottest advice on offer today is to take the 13/8 odds from Sporting Odds as they are sure to follow suit by either suspending their market or crashing the odds.
You'll find the Next England Manager market under Foot' Long Term, third down in the menu on the left. Click the banner to claim a free £25 bet.
