Martin O'Neill favourite for Middlesbrough job

Sky Bet have wasted no time at all in publishing the odds for the next Middlesbrough manager, although the listing contains some surprise inclusions and one noteable exception.

Martin O'Neill is red hot favourite at 5/2 with Tony Mowray just behind at 7/2. Southampton boss George Burley and Alan Curbishley at 6/1.

Sky Bet have bizarrely included the retired Graeme Souness and sacked Mackem manager Mick McCarthy at 8/1 with Iain Dowie just behind at 10/1.

Former Boro boss Bryan Robson is probably not worth a punt at 50/1 and rumours that Sven Goran Erikksson would 'job-swap' with Steve McClaren have been rubbished with the Swede's odds set at a huge 66/1.

We fully expect these listings to change regularly during the next few days and would advise punters to back O'Neill today as he could be below evens before the weekend.

The former Celtic boss has apparently been staying in a local hotel for the last three days as his contractual details are finalised.
