ONLINE BETTING SUSPENDED FOR NEW BORO MANAGER
The race for the new Boro manager is seemingly over this morning, less than half a day after the markets opened.
Only two bookies, Coral and Skybet, had offered odds on who would replace Steve McClaren in the Middlesbrough hotseat but both suspended betting overnight.
There are differing opinions as to why the book has been closed but it is widely beleived that both firms have now realised that Martin O'Neill's recent movements point to the Irishman being named by the club imminently.
But the bookies could have gone shy over the confusion that reigned yesterday afternoon with Sven Goran Erikksson's odds crashing from 66/1 to 16/1 and Ertugrul Saglam moving from 40/1 to 15/1 within two hours of the book opening.
No bookmaker's spokespersons would comment on the situation this morning but we do expect an update before lunchtime on what is shaping up to be the most exciting betting event of the year so far.
