LAWRENCE FULWELL - BIG DERBY SPECIAL - SUNDERLAND v BORO 30-1-06

Well then, the time has now come for us to lock horns like two gladiators ready for a bit of man on man action, all sweaty and half naked with either man ready to go down for the kill.

Back in September when we played at the Riverside who would have thought that the tables would have truly turned by now eh? It is Sunderland who have had the upturn in form, apart from that game on Saturday at Brentford but that didn't really count in my book as it was away and in the FA Cup so we won't dwell on that any longer.

So as I was saying you lot have been in the kind of bad form that makes fans wonder what they are in it for. I get like that that sometimes after a bad turn of results but then I remember my first time, the heaving bodies and moaning and groaning, the screams of delight. Yeah standing on them terraces is like a drug once it's in yer veins.

Anyway this game sees two teams on equal playing levels in my opinion. What is different is that Sunderland seem to have more spirit when the crunch comes. While Boro, from what I read and hear, are a disjointed unit lacking any stiff resolve to grab a game by the scruff of the neck and give a side a good spanking, which when you consider the big lads you have in your team you should be nailing the types of teams you have been laying down and letting bang one into you.

In goal we have two keepers we both have had problems this season. Schwarzer for you lot and Davies for us. Both seem to be decent shot stoppers but that's about it, and on crosses- well bugger me anything can happen.

The defences are about equal in my opinion, leaking far too many goals and making far too many mistakes from all quarters. Sometimes I think it can't possibly be worse but then I remember we could have Boumsong and Bramble.

Midfield is where the battle is won and lost and this is what will win Sunderland the game. We have some right hard little midfield terriers who will bite yer legs and hassle and chase yer balls till they are blue in the face. You lot have that young Downing back who is a class act but apart from that yer have no bite and if Rochemback is playing, well I'm taking me hard hat to protect us and I am in row 75.

Now then, up front is Sunderland's problem. We just cant score, and you lot have three class forwards who all have chipped in with a goal or two so far this season. If Boro have any chance in this game it is on the break.

So that my review of the state of play and now for my prediction.

Well as I said earlier I see it being up close and personal. I fancy Sunderland because of the home advantage and the free tickets we give away should give us a nice hostel atmosphere and I don't mean German backpackers all over the fucking place either before you ask.

So I go for Sunderland 2 Boro 1.

Sorry lads. Yer alright for smogs but if we are gannin' down, your coming with us.

May the best team win
We are Sunderland, say we are Sunderland...
