THE BEAN PREMIER LEAGUE PREVIEW 16-9-06
Christopher Bean

Hello there ladies and gentleman, and welcome to another fun-packed and enthusiastic edition of The Bean Preview.

What a week huh? The Boro skilfully fucked it up big style on Wednesday evening, and managed to accumulate a bore draw last weekend. I am not going to mention on how I did last weekend as my performance was on par as the Boro team the other night.

Liverpool v Tottenham

Liverpool 4/6 with Stan James
Draw 14/5 with UK Betting
Tottenham 5/1 with Bet365

The weekend kicks off with a tasty tie at Anfield as Tottenham take on Liverpool. After the disappointing defeat at Stamford Bridge last Sunday, the Scousers took out their frustration on a poor Newcastle team. Xabi Alonso scored an impressive goal from inside his own half. This made Steve Harper look like a tit. Spurs are struggling to put the ball in the net as of late. They have failed to hit the target in their last three games.

Due to the Tottenham's striker's shyness in front of goal, I will have to go for a Liverpool victory. Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy are starting to get an understanding with each other now, and they will grab a goal each on Saturday lunchtime.

Prediction 2-0 to Liverpool (7/1 with Betfred)

Arsenal v Sheffield United

Arsenal 1/5 with Coral
Draw 5/1 with Paddy Power
Sheff Utd 22/1 with Mansion

Arsenal will be looking to break the winless hoodoo over the Emirates Stadium this weekend as they welcome the Blades. There is no love loss between these two sides as there is still bad blood after the infamous FA cup tie between the two teams, when there was confusion over a goal decision when the ball was knocked out of play for an injured player.

I think this will be the match where the Gunners will finally win in their new home. They are on the back of a great performance against Manchester United last week. Add to the fact that Sheffield United have not been the quickest out of the blocks this season.

Prediction 2-1 to Arsenal (9/1 with Skybet)

Aston Villa v Charlton

Aston Villa 8/11 with Paddy Power
Draw 5/2 with Victor Chandler
Charlton 9/2 with Victor Chandler

The return to the Premiership for Iain Dowie has not been a happy one, as his Charlton side have only gained three points from a possible fifteen. It will be an arduous task to gain any more points this weekend as they travel to the unbeaten Aston Villa.

Martin O'Neill has made a huge turn around at Villa Park. Before he joined the club, you would have thought they would be battling for their place in the Premiership. They now look like competing for a Champions League spot. It will be a comfortable victory for the Villains. And the pressure will be mounting on Iain Dowie's beautiful head.

Prediction 2-1 to Aston Villa (7/1 with Betfred)

Fulham v Chelsea

Fulham 7/1 with Victor Chandler
Draw 10/3 with Paddy Power
Chelsea 4/9 with BetDirect

It is the West London derby on the banks of the River Thames today, as the Cottagers take on the Pillagers at Craven Cottage. Fulham have made a decent start to the season after amassing eight points out of a possible fifteen. They did suffer a humiliating defeat in the Carling Cup at the hands of Wycombe in midweek however. After stumbling at the Riverside, Chelsea have been on a four match winning streak.

Fulham did beat Chelsea at home last season, but I cannot see them repeating the feat. It will be a tough game for the champions though but I can see it being a reversal of last seasons result.

Prediction 1-0 to Chelsea (6/1 with Coral)

Manchester City v West Ham

Man City 11/8 with Bet365
Draw 9/4 with Victor Chandler
West Ham 9/4 with Total Bet

The pressure is on Stuart Pearce to get results as his team have lost 13 out of the last 16 games. Their opponents West Ham have had a dip in form as of late and will be looking for a victory for a confidence booster before their trip to Palermo in midweek.

I am afraid that the knives will be sharpened even further for Psycho as his team are just not performing at the moment. West Ham will have a comfortable victory at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Prediction 2-0 West Ham (11/1 with Betfred)

Middlesbrough v Blackburn

Middlesbrough 11/10 with Paddy Power
Draw 9/4 with Skybet
Blackburn 13/5 with Total Bet

Man, I am not looking forward to this game. After two draws on the bounce, Boro were humbled by Notts bloody County in the Carling Cup. And confidence is at an all time low as Blackburn visit the Riverside. Blackburn could not score for toffee in their opening games until last week when they spanked four past Manchester City.

I do not believe the Boro will get beat this weekend. A returning Jonathan Woodgate would not allow it. But I can't see us winning as well. With Blackburn's poor goal scoring record themselves, the scoreboard operator will not be too busy on Saturday.

Prediction 1-1 (11/2 with BetDirect)

Wigan v Watford

Wigan 10/11 with Stan James
Draw 12/5 with Victor Chandler
Watford 7/2 with Victor Chandler

We may only be at the early stages of the season, but this game is already being touted as a six-pointer in the battle for survival. Wigan have struggled so far this season, but gained a respectable draw at Goodison Park last weekend. They were knocked back down to Earth midweek though as they lost to Crewe in the Carling Cup. Watford have struggled to adapt to Premiership life, as they are currently occupying bottom spot with Sheffield United. They almost had a scare at league new boys Accrington Stanley, but disposed of the League Two opposition on penalties.

There is not much between these two teams. They both struggle to score goals and both will probably happy to take a point a piece. So I am going for a goalless draw.

Prediction 0-0 (9/1 with Victor Chandler)

Reading v Manchester United

Reading 6/1 with Sporting Odds Draw 11/4 with Bet365
Man Utd 4/7 with Total Bet

Reading have settled into Premiership life rather nicely, and are currently riding high in the league occupying a top six slot. They face their sternest test of the season so far as they welcome Manchester United to the Madjeski Stadium. The visiting team will be looking to get all three points after their disappointing defeat to Arsenal last weekend

There was one notable fact about the poor display by Fergie's team last week, and that was a lack of Ryan Giggs. They will struggle without the Welsh-yet English-but half Barbary ape winger. So I believe the Royals will provide the shock result of the weekend and nick a point.

Prediction 1-1 (13/2 with Sporting Odds)
