ARSENAL AWAY 28-2-04
Written by Steve 'Shellshocked' Goldby
Every single newspaper, website or television channel that has reported on Sunday's goalfest at Highbury has completely focused on the brilliance of Arsenal's performance. It was breathtaking a lot of the time, magnificent for most of the rest and simply outstanding during the gaps. So because there were so many column inches dedicated to The Champions' excellent performance, there was little space for the commentators to say anything about Boro. So let me redress the balance.

The Champions are looking invincible in every way yet Boro broke their guard three times and at 3-1 ahead, it looked as though a famous victory was about to occur and Brian Clough's record of consecutive unbeaten league games would not be beaten.
Boro's defence was shocking. With Gareth Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu missing, we just didn't have what it took to trample The Gunners' attacks and stamp out their excellently rehearsed manouevres. Steve McClaren knew what it would take and the way that Boro came out scrapping in the second half spoke volumes for the club's determination to realise ambitions this season. Jimmy, would you like to stay in Middlesbrough for the rest of your life? You will always be a hero in this town if you carry on like this.
This was possibly the best game of football that I have ever seen and if I was a neutral, I would have to say that it was a very fair result. We were all completely overwhelmed by the match and the various incidents that occurred before, during and after the occasion were overshadowed by a realisation that Boro are on their way...
