AZ ALKMAAR v MIDDLESBROUGH TEAM NEWS
Mark Viduka has apparently passed a fitness test. Two quick circuits of his sun lounger confirmed that the Achilles injury picked up during the Australian World Cup celebrations has miraculously cleared up and the V-Bomber should start tonight.
Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is definitely out of the UEFA Cup match in Holland though after failing to recover from a shoulder injury. Skippy has not made the journey and Brad Jones will start with David Knight on the bench.
Despite having his nose broken in Sunday's win over Fulham, Austrian headbanger Emanuel Pogatetz has travelled and will almost certainly play. It would take more than a mere broken nose to put him out of this one.
AZ Alkmaar have a full squad minus Dutch international defender Barry Opdam who is out with a knee injury.
Boro defender Chris Riggott told the BBC, "We are just planning to go out there with a positive attitude and win the game. It's going to be a tough game - we know they are flying in their division. It's obviously an advantage if you finish top, but we can't afford to look at it too tactically."
Middlesbrough Squad:
Jones, Knight, Parnaby, Queudrue, Pogatetz, Southgate, Ehiogu, Riggott, Bates, Doriva, Boateng, Kennedy, Morrison, Johnson, Nemeth, Maccarone, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Yakubu.
