FC BASEL v BORO - BORO GUNNING FOR GLORY

Boro have the big guns lined up on the Swiss front and are in the mood to blow Basel's Uefa Cup hopes clean out of the water tonight.

Boro enter their first ever Uefa Cup quarter-final in a special all white kit but there'll be no surrender to opposition who are eight points clear at the top of the Swiss Super League.

Captain Gareth Southgate will miss the match tonight after suffering with back trouble and George Boateng and Lee Cattermole are both suspended after picking up bookings in the Olympic Stadium as Boro battered Roma in the last round.

Steve McClaren has told his players that they have a great opportunity and shouldn't waste it whilst midfeilder Ray Parlour reiterated Boro's confidence by commenting, "After coming through Roma, we have every chance of progressing again."

Basel smashed their own consecutive unbeaten home record recently and were talking up their own chances of prevailing tonight. Manager Christian Gross said "If we can go to Middlesbrough without having conceded a goal, that would improve our chances enormously. I'm looking forward to both games - Middlesbrough are extremely attractive opponents for our fans."
