SPORTING LISBON 10-3-05 PREDICTION

After the abysmal performance at Villa on Saturday, The Bear cannot stress enough that the smogs really need to raise their game againt European giants, Sporting Lisbon.

Thankfully, it looks like Schwarzer will be fit, which after seeing Nash play is a massive relief. The Bear won't be too suprised either to see Danny Graham up front. Starting an 18 year old in one of the club's biggest ever games is a real test of character for the lad, and The Bear supports this.

The Bear still recognises massive midfield problems though. There is no right side (no- none at all, really!) and the left side is looking jaded. The Bear really struggles to see where the creativity is coming from at the moment, and a lack of creativity equals a lack of goals. Oh dear.

The Bear realises Sporting are unbeaten in the UEFA cup away from home, but this won't be an easy match for them. After Saturday's performance, The Bear fully expects McClaren to switch to a 4-4-2 and certainly get the geriatrics motivated. Make no doubt about it, the smogs will battle.

However, class always shines through, and here lies the problem. Don't expect much possession. Sporting's European pedigree and away form will just be too much. The Bear is plumping for a 2-1 defeat with some wonder moment from an unheard of Brazilian and a rapid counter attack in the final moments.

It won't all be doom and gloom though. The Bear does expect a fire in the belly smog performance inclusive of a D. Graham goal, to make the grandkids proud.

Sadly, The Bear believes that this will be the last European tie at The Riverside for many years to come. So continue increasing your wealth by backing The Bear.

It's nearly Easter, so win some money and buy that pink fluffy bunny costume for your loved one. You know it makes sense.
