BIRMINGHAM CITY v MIDDLESBROUGH, August 23rd 2005, St ANDREW'S
THE TALE OF THE TAPE - IAN BARKER
Taylor v Schwarzer
It's the battle of the Germans! Rock the "Maik" Taylor was born in
Hildenshein, Germany and Schwarzer is a German too. Well expect
them to make their own war. Schwarzer to edge it with a uzi.
Taylor 7pts Schwarzer 8pts
Melchiot v Quedrue
Super Mario will never be able to match his opposite in Funtime
Frank. Expect Mario to trip over his dreads, and Quedrue to take the
piss.
Melchiot 6pts Quedrue 7pts
Upson v Ugo
Matthew "whats" Upson? Well we'll tell you.... Ugo has height and
weight advantage and is the "Old School Style" defender, whereas Upson
is the new breed of centre half. The ugliest will win.
Upson 7pts Ugo 7pts
Cunningham v Southgate
Survival of the fittest! The 34 year old versus the 35 year old in 12 days
time. Expect the old timers to roll back the years with a quality show.
Cunningham 7pts Southgate 8pts
Clapham v Riezeger
The non event (again).
Clapham 0pts Riezeger 0pts
Gray v Downing
Downing showed an improvement in his last outing, as did Gray. Expect
the Pally Park Prince to run the rule over the former Palace boy.
Gray 6pts Downing 7pts
Butt v Boateng
The main event. The Butt against the Boat! After some home truths by
George after the Spurs game, he'll be well and truly fired up for this
one. Plain sailing for George as he kicks the skunk's butt.
Butt 7pts Boateng 8pts
Pennant v Parlour
Jermain "Feel the Pain" Pennant likes dishing out his own brand of
juvenile hits. However, Romford Ray will give out his own ASBO and tag
Pennant well and truly.
Pennant 6pts Parlour 7pts
Clemence v Mendieta
Stephen "Good hands" Clemence and Gaizka are best of buds away from
the game.............. yeah right! Mendi has not come across Ray's son
before, but with Ray's genes in him, expect a few handballs coming
Boro's way.
Clemence 7pts Miendeta 7pts
Pandiani v Viduka
The battle of the two southern hemisphere strikers. One born in
Montevideo, the other in Melbourne. Expect a video nasty from the
Uruguayan, as Vids records another defeat on his rival.
Pandiani 6pts Viduka 7pts
Forssell v Yakubu (or JFH)
Yet another German! (I'm not making this up). Forssell was born in
Steinfurt, but has managed to fool the Finns into letting him play for them.
Don't expect him to finish the job against the Yak (or Jimmy) as
either striker has too much power for him.
Forssell 7pts Yakubu(or JFH) 8 pts
Total scores:
Brum 67pts - Boro 74pts
A close encounter at St Andrew's. Boro to ride their luck and sneak a
1-0 win
