BORO v BLACKBURN BIG MATCH FACTS

Boro last won on Boxing Day three years ago when Manchester United were defeated 3-1 at the Riverside.

It's the second part of the Boro v Blackburn double header and the late winner from Paul Dickov in Wednesday's Carling Cup quarter final will have Mark Hughes' side bouyed up for this one.

The two sides lie in 12th and 13th place in the Premiership table, with Boro one place and one point inferior. Boro have currently gone fourteen matches without a clean sheet in the Premier league, a record in its own right.

Boro's Premiership record is won five, drawn five and lost seven. We've only kept a clean sheet twice in this league campaign, the last time being at Birmingham on 23rd August.

Boro did the doubled over Blackburn last season, crushing them 4-0 at Ewood Park and then winning 1-0 at the Riverside in February.

Rovers are looking for their third win in five Premiership visits to the Riverside. Their most recent success on Teesside was on 7th February 2004 when Jon Stead made a dream debut by scoring the only goal of the game.

Blackburn and Middlesbrough drew 2-2 at Ewood Park on Boxing Day 2003. The Lancashire club have drawn their last three Boxing Day fixtures and have not won a post Christmas Day match since defeating Birmingham 2-1 at Ewood Park in 2000.

Blackburn need to find the net three times to take the club's all-time tally of goals scored in top flight football to 4,000. But only rock bottom Sunderland have lost more top tier matches on the road this season than Blackburn.

Blackburn have kept one clean sheet in the last seven league matches.
