BOLTON v BORO BIG MATCH FACTS

Boro are in a precarious position having picked up only one point from the last possible twelve.

We are searching for a first victory in six, and have lost the last four on the road against West Ham, Everton, Chelsea and Liverpool.

More worrying is the fact that we have not scored a League goal away from home since Frank Queudrue's consolation against West Ham on 23rd October.

Steve McClaren's side find themselves eleven points behind to Bolton in the Premiership, but we have scored one more goal. However, we have played one more game than Bolton and have conceded exactly twice as many goals, 28 to 14.

Boro have drawn two and lost three of their five Premier league visits to Bolton, and have not claimed maximum points on Bolton turf since a 1-0 victory on 11th April 1987 in the old Third Division.

Boro's last top flight win at Bolton was 55 years ago, a 2-0 victory on 18th November 1950.

Bolton will want to make up for only gaining a point against whipping boys Sunderland on Boxing Day.

The Trotters are looking for a 100th win in their 250th League match under Sam Allardyce and have lost just one of the last eight Premiership matches, and kept 10 clean sheets in 17 League outings.

They hold the tightest defence at home in the top tier with just two goals conceded in eight games.

Both Premiership fixtures between the two sides were drawn last season, 2-2 at the Riverside and 0-0 at the Reebok in February when both clubs were in the top seven.
