MIDDLESBROUGH v CRYSTAL PALACE RISK-FREE OPTION 30-11-05
According to the bookies, tonight's Carling Cup clash is a Middlesbrough banker but as a Boro fan, I'm apprehensive. We shouldn't have any problem getting into the quarter-finals but I'd prefer to edge my bets as my confidence in Boro has not been totally accurate on every occasion this season.
So I've worked out a solution that virtually guarantees a minimum 18.75% (£7.50) profit including your free £10 bet offer, whatever the outcome of the match.
The Paddy Power coupon is my firm favourite for this game because it contains the variety that you'd normally expect from a spread bet coupon giving me enough options to play safe, lengthen the odds and totally edge things, and guarantee a win, whatever the result.
There are five options for a straight win for either side.
For a Middlesbrough win, I have chosen the 1/4 straightforward 'To Qualify' option. Just in case we get taken to extra-time or penalties.
I've backed it with £30 and I'll win £7.50 if it comes in and get the free £10 bet as well.
To cover the possible upset I've also backed Palace for the straight win at 11/4 ('To Qualify' box) with £10. That gives me £37.50 back including my stake and free bet.
Back these options and you lay out £40. If Boro win, you get back £47.50, inluding original stakes and free bet. If Palace win you see a return of £47.50, leaving you in a break even situation.
So all eventualities are covered and you are guaranteed to break even in the event of Boro getting knocked out or make a £7.50 profit whatever the outcome.
But if you are feeling braver than me, you may well want to peruse the coupon for yourself and have a a tenner on Mark Viduka scoring Boro's first goal at 10/3 for example. Or any of the other very tempting odds on this important match.
Good luck.
Harry
