MANCHESTER UNITED v MIDDLESBROUGH TEAM NEWS

There are no new major injury doubts for Middlesbrough going into this evening's encounter at Old Trafford. However Steve McClaren has said that he will make a number of changes from the team that narrowly lost to Everton on Saturday.

So expect Gareth Southgate and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to be rested in order to overcome hamstring injuries and Mark Viduka to also be sidelined in the hope he can recover from a thigh problem.

Long term injuries, Mark Schwarzer (fractured cheekbone), Emmanuel Pogatetz (broken nose and cheekbone) and Gaizka Mendieta (metatarsal) are all still out and will be for the rest of the season.

The big injury news for Manchester United is the absence of Wayne Rooney, who broke the fourth metatarsal bone of his right foot in Saturday's clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. So expect a frontline of Luis Saha and Ruud van Nistelrooy from Ferguson's men tonight.

The only other return is that of left-back Gabriel Heinze who has recovered from a groin strain and is expected to start for the Red Devils for the first time in seven months.

No players are suspended for tonight's game.
