BOLTON v MIDDLESBROUGH - TEAM NEWS
Manager Steve McClaren confirmed today that goalkeeper Ross Turnbull will be handed his Boro debut at Bolton tonight in a side that is likely to be strongly represented by players from the youth Academy. Turnball makes his debut after a successful spell on loan to Crewe Alexandra, replacing Brad Jones who has played three games in five days.
Gareth Southgate is still suffering from the hamstring niggle that has kept him out of the last few games and along with Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, has not travelled to Bolton. Mark Viduka has also remained on Teesside in order to nurse a troublesome thigh strain.
With next week's UEFA Cup Final in mind, McClaren has decided to rest Chris Riggott and Stuart Parnaby. However Franck Queudrue, Lee Cattermole, Massimo Maccarone and Yakubu have all made the journey to the north-west, all of them with points to prove to the manager.
Bolton's major injury concern is Ricardo Gardener, who is still struggling to overcome a knee problem. Kevin Nolan is also likely to be out, despite facing a late test on a troublesome rib injury. Khaliou Fadiga and El-Hadji Diouf are also abscent from the squad.
