LIVERPOOL v BORO TEAM NEWS
Mad-Dog Pogatetz has shaken off a minor knock sustained in the Chelsea match and is available to play.
Stuart Parnaby however is not, as he has not recovered from the muscle injury that he picked up in the Crystal Palace match.
Gaizka Mendieta, Stewart Downing, Ray Parlour and Malcolm Christie remain on the long term injury list but progress has been made in the cases of Downing and Parlour.
Bolo Zenden was ruled out for the rest of the season yesterday with a knee injury. We wish him well during the recovery process.
Dietmar Hamann will also be missing for Liverpool with heavy bruising to his leg and Darren Potter is out with a back problem.
Fit-again Xabi Alonso should return and Mohamed Sissoko is back after suspension. In attack, Djibril Cisse and Harry Kewell could start.
Liverpool Squad: Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Warnock, Traore, Riise, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Alonso, Sissoko, Kewell, Cisse, Morientes, Crouch, Sinama-Pongolle, Josemi, Carson.
Middlesbrough Squad: Schwarzer, Jones, Bates, Riggott, Southgate, Ehiogu, Queudrue, Pogatetz, Boateng, Doriva, Rochemback, Morrison, Nemeth, Johnson, Kennedy, Yakubu, Hasselbaink, Viduka, Maccarone.
Steve McClaren spoke to the BBC:
"They have got to lose at some stage, they have got to concede a goal at some stage - why not against us? We have found a good vein of form ourselves and consistency. Of the last thirteen games, we have lost three and we haven't lost back-to-back games in twenty-three. That's probably the kiss of death, but someone told me we haven't won at Anfield since 1976, and we always like to put the record straight."
