MANCHESTER CITY v MIDDLESBROUGH TEAM NEWS

George Boateng and Lee Cattermole are available again for Boro. Both players are returning from suspension.

Emanuel Pogatetz has been ruled out for the season with a serious head injury and captain Gareth Southgate will also miss the match.

It remains to be seen just how many changes Steve McClaren will make to the side that were defeated in Basel on Thursday night but it is almost certain that some players will be rested in preparation for the return leg in four days time.

Manchester City striker Georgios Samaras could make a return from injury after being expected to out for muc longer. Trevor Sinclair and Antoine Sibierski should also be fit to play.

City have Andy Cole, Nedum Onuoha, Stephen Jordan, Joey Barton and Claudio Reyna all out and Sylvain Distin and Sun Jihai are suspended.
