NUNEATON VS BORO TEAM NEWS
It looks like McClaren will be fielding as strong a side as he can in this afternoon's tie at the Conference club. Hasselbaink, Viduka and Yakubu all travelled down to the Midlands but it is anyone's guess which two will actually start.
Franck Queudrue has been added to the injury list this week, prompting McClaren to recall Andrew Taylor from his loan spell at Bradford City as cover. He could start in the left-back position depending on whether McClaren wants to move Pogatetz to the midfield.
Fabio Rochemback still hasn't recovered from his calf injury obtained in the tie against Blackburn on Boxing Day- neither has Szilard Nemeth been passed fit after his injury sustained against Palace in November.
The usual suspects are still out, including Malcolm Christie, Tony McMahon, Ray Parlour and Stewart Downing. The latter two however are set to return later in the month, with Downing possibly playing in the Reserve side as early as next Wednesday.
There have been rumours that Mark Schwarzer will be relegated to the bench in favour of Brad Jones since putting in a transfer request. Whether this is true or not we will find out in due course.
The major worry for Nuneaton is the fitness of utility man David Staff who twisted his knee in a match against former Boro FA Cup opposition Hednesford Town. This means that Stuart Whittaker- another left-sided player could come in. However the options are open to Nuneaton manager Roger Ashby as he could also play Martin Reeves or Gary Fitzpatrick in midfield, demonstrating their depth in this position.
Nuneaton Squad: Acton, Oddy, Moore, Angus, Collins, Love, Noon, Murphy, Quailey, Reeves, Poole, Staff, Whittaker, Fitzpatrick, Frew, Wilkin, Holmes, Taylor, Rea, Foster.
Middlesbrough Squad: Schwarzer, Parnaby, Riggott, Southgate, Pogatetz, Doriva, Mendieta, Morrison, Yakubu, Viduka, Hasselbaink, Jones, Maccarone, Bates, Cattermole, Taylor.
