MIDDLESBROUGH v SPURS EXPERT SUMMARY AND PREDICTION II
Peter Holmes

This Sunday's encounter with Tottenham Hotspur, the Spurs of North London, has been touted by the very knowledgeable aficionados who use the ComeOnBoro.com New Holgate message board as 'Crucial and season defining!'.

Well you will not get any argument from me on that, as one only has to look at the present location of our Beloved Boro in the EPL table to see that if we don't start doing the business, and soon, we will get dragged into that ragged upper tier of the relegation mire.

As for Spurs, they are in an excellent position, currently lying in fourth and with Liverpool lording it in Japan, they can go into third position with a win and also keep a pursuing Bolton at arms length.

So a HELL of a lot to play for.

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Spurs I've got to admit.

I reckon it's because they sit as a bit of a lesser light to the might of Arsenal, and now of course Chelsea. Maybe a few parallels with the Boro then.

They always play a brand of football that appeals to the fan and the purist. Skilful expansive attacking football. The fact that Glen Hoddle played imperiously for them helped I suppose followed by England's telepathic duo of Gazza and Lineker in their full pomp.

The present team have played in my mind some of the most attractive football in the Premier League this season and their Manager Martin Jol is building something for the future around the combative experienced skills of Edgar Davids.

The front line shuffle pack of Robbie Keane, Mido and sulky Jermaine Defoe is very good, even though they all don't get on too well socially, apparently.

But this is where I stick my neck out and say in general we appear to have the wood on Spurs up here. We need to get a win and that's an understatement.

Head, heart and stubborn love say 2-1 to the Boro with a goal for the Yak in a fighting performance aided by a vocal and fired up Riverside mafia.

Enough Said.
