MIDDLESBROUGH v SPURS - BIG MATCH FACTS
Spurs visit the Riverside looking for a fourth fourth successive Premiership victory, whilst Boro face the prospect of suffering a third top flight defeat in a row, coming into this game after defeats at Chelsea and Liverpool.
I'm sure that you rae tired of this statistic but here goes anyway. This will be Boro's fourteenth Sunday fixture following a Thursday night Uefa Cup match and only two of them have seen us take all three points.
It is to be hoped that winning our Uefa Cup group on Thursday and being handed a glamorous tie with VfB Stuttgart will give the team a much needed boost as they search for more consistent league form.
Boro hold the longest sequence without a clean sheet in the Premiership this season, currently thirteen matches. The record is held by Wimbledon who lasted out for twenty-six matches between February and October 1999.
It's not all bleak though as Middlesbrough are currently enjoying a run of three successive home wins over Tottenham and are unbeaten at home in the last eight matches against the north Londoners.
Spurs travel to Teesside in search of a second win in a week, following Monday's 3-1 home triumph over Harry Redknapp's Portsmouth. Spurs are on a very good run at the moment and the win against Portsmouth put them on thirty points after sixteen games for the first ever time in the Premiership.
Spurs came from behind against Portsmouth for the third time this season and no other team has acheived that as many times. They have also come back from behind to draw in two matches making it a total of eleven points gained after being behind.
Defeat here for Spurs would be their 200th in the Premier League and the first goal conceded will be the 5,000th shipped in Tottenham's League history.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is a one shy of scoring 150 goals for English clubs and Mark Viduka needs a hat trick to complete 100 goals in English and Scottish League football. Let's hope that both milestones are reached in this game.
