FC SPORTING WIGAN v MIDDLESBROUGH MATCH FACTS
The omens are not good at all for Sunday's Premiership clash. Boro have followed a UEFA Cup match with a Sunday Premiership fixture ten times and won just the once.
Add to that the newly promoted team on a high factor and you may want to settle for a point on Sunday.
Wigan's Henri Camara will be pushing for a starting place after recovering from a foot injury, as will Emerson Thome who has recovered from a thigh injury. He could replace Arjan De Zeeuw if he fails to shake off an ankle knock.
Middlesbrough's Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Gaizka Mendieta, Szilard Nemeth, Tony McMahon, Chris Riggott, Stuart Parnaby and Stewart Downing are also missing, as if you didn't already know but Fabio Rochemback returns and will almost certainly make his second Premiership start.
Wigan are looking to pick up a third Premiership victory on the trot having seen off Sunderland and West Brom in their last two. They are also looking for their 100th victory in all competitions under Paul Jewell.
This is only the third time that Boro and Wigan have met in the league and the Lancastrians have never scored against us. The only other time we were in the same division was the 1986/87 season in the old Third Division.
If Boro do get a win, it will be our first time that we have recorded back to back Premier league victories in twenty-nine attempts, which is the longest run of all the Premiership clubs.
Wigan have gone thirty-two league matches since losing by more than one goal.
Gary Walsh and Graham Kavanagh could both play against their former club on Sunday whilst Ugo Ehiogu will be making his 350th appearance in English top flight football.
Sunday's referee is Uriah Rennie of Sheffield.
