MIDDLESBROUGH v WIGAN BIG MATCH FACTS

What a difference a week makes. Since last Saturday's 7-0 gubbing at Highbury, Mark Schwarzer has withdrawn his transfer request, David Moyes has confirmed that Mark Viduka will not be joining Everton and Ugo Ehiogu stating that he wants to stay. All that on top of a 5-2 FA Cup thirs round replay win over Nuneaton Borough.

Boro still remain just five points away from the Premiership's relegation zone and are chasing a first win in nine League games. Wigan have lost their last three but also won a cup replay on Tuesday at Elland Road on penalties.

Boro hold an unbeaten League record against Wigan of one win and two draws, one of the draws coming at the JJB in September when Henri Camara's goal cancelled out Yakubu's skilful fourteenth minute strike.

Steve McClaren's side have only picked up three points from the last possible eighteen with draws against West Brom, Spurs and Manchester City at home and Newcastle away.

Boro have the highest goals per game ratio in the Premier league. Our encounters so far have produced sixty-two goals, twenty-five for and thirty-seven against. Wigan have yet to register a goalless draw in the Premiership and have only ever drawn one Premiership match, against Boro in the aforementioned fixture in September.

Wigan have clocked up ninety-nine league wins under Paul Jewell but they've not gained a point nor scored a League goal since the 2-0 victory at West Ham on 28th December.

They have won half of their matches in the top tier, eleven out of twenty-two, but have lost eight of the last eleven. Away from home, the Premiership's youngest club have won five and lost five.
