BLACKBURN v MIDDLESBROUGH BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
By Jonathan Turner
The danger of reading too much into one result was starkly illustrated by Blackburn's 1-0 victory over Liverpool on Boxing Day.
Rovers had been hammered 6-2 by Arsenal just three days before but bounced back superbly to bring Liverpool's recent resurgence to an abrupt end.
However, just as the scoreline against the Gunners was a little harsh on Mark Hughes' side, it does have to be said that they rode their luck against the Reds.
Goalkeeper Brad Friedel was Blackburn's hero on Boxing Day but he should have an altogether easier afternoon here against a Boro side that's struggled horribly away from the Riverside.
Gareth Southgate's men are yet to win on their travels, managing just four points from a possible 30, and have to be opposed despite the fact they head into the match just a place and a point behind Rovers.
In fairness it's been a decent Christmas so far for Boro but they've lost their last four matches against Blackburn in the last couple of seasons and even money about that figure rising to five looks more than fair.
Verdict: Blackburn 2 Middlesbrough 0
