EVERTON v MIDDLESBROUGH - TEAM NEWS
Abel Xavier has recovered from his hamstring injury and is set to return to the Middlesbrough squad for their Boxing Day visit to his old club Everton.
But provided there are no late problems boss Gareth Southgate will be tempted to name an unchanged side following the solid 2-0 Riverside Stadium win over Charlton.
Robert Huth has resumed training but is some way from match fitness after inconclusive scans on a leg injury, while Matthew Bates remains a long-term absentee.
Everton will monitor the fitness of defender Alan Stubbs and striker Victor Anichebe ahead of the game.
Stubbs suffered a knee injury in the warm-up to Saturday's win at Reading and was withdrawn as a precaution while Anichebe had fallen sick in the hotel at lunchtime.
Long-term absentees Tim Cahill (knee) and Tony Hibbert (knee) remain sidelined.
Teams:
Everton squad: Howard, Neville, Yobo, Lescott, Weir, Naysmith, Osman, Carsley, Davies, Arteta, van der Meyde, McFadden, Johnson, Beattie, Vaughan, Wright, Stubbs, Anichebe.
Middllesbrough squad: Schwarzer, Jones, Parnaby, Taylor, Xavier, Woodgate, Pogatetz, Davies, Wheater, Boateng, Cattermole, Morrison, Downing, Arca, Johnson, Rochemback, Mendieta, Viduka, Yakubu, Christie.
