Andorra coach David Rodrigo has laughed off suggestions of an England team in "crisis" and admitted that his side will be expected to lose even if Steve McClaren's team are below their best.

When asked about England's recent problems in front of goal - they have scored just once in their last five outings - Rodrigo merely joked that his side were even worse off, netting just once in one game more.

"If England are in crisis then so are we, because we have only scored once in six games," he said.

Andorra are ranked alongside the Solomon Islands at 163rd in the FIFA World Rankings and Rodrigo admitted that his side face an enormous task in Wednesday night's match against England.

"If England play their best, they should beat us easily, and if they don't, they will still be expected to win, but we will give 100% and try to produce an upset," he said.

"If we play above ourselves and England don't perform, we have a chance of winning," he said.

However, Rodrigo will put the emphasis on defence in this clash, sticking to his favoured 4-5-1 formation and looking to frustrate the England attack early on.

Despite this tactic, Andorra have struggled to keep opponents at bay in their four Group E qualifying games, losing heavily to England at Old Trafford in September, before suffering similarly crushing defeats against Israel, Croatia and Macedonia.

Defender Oscar Sonejee, his nation's most capped player with 65 caps, also played down England's problems, saying that Andorra would simply focus on their own game in Wednesday night's match, which will be played at Barcelona's Olympic Stadium.

"I have been following some of the stories about England in the press, but we don't take much notice of that. We are here to play our own game and do the best we can," he said.

"It is always great to play against the top teams and we are all looking forward to playing against England. It is a huge game for us and we hope we can give a good account of ourselves."

Veteran goalkeeper Koldo Alvarez also talked up his side's chances of making an impression against McClaren's side.

"We want to put in a good performance, and even if we can't win the game, we want to be able to hold our heads high at the end," he said.
