MIDDLESBROUGH v LIVERPOOL BIG MATCH FACTS

Boro are aiming for a fourth successive home Premiership win today. Liverpool are the club with the weakest away record in the Premier League and Boro would leapfrog the Reds and possibly displace them from the top half of the table if they win by clear three goals.

MIDDLESBROUGH

Won three of the last five Premiership matches.

Failed to score in eight of their last 16 Premier League games.

Two goals shy of conceding 600 all time in the Premier League.

Won the last three League games at home against Everton (2-1), Newcastle (1-0) and West Ham (1-0).

Of Premiership clubs, only Wigan (12) have played fewer League and Cup matches this season than Middlesbrough's 13.

Scored just one League goal in the 15 minute segments before and after half time.

Following this, Southgate's side visit Aston Villa, then host Manchester United.

Aiyegbeni Yakubu is Middlesbrough's top scorer with four goals.

Goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer and Emanuel Pogatetz are the only players to have been on the field for every minute of Middlesbrough's Premiership matches this season.

If on the field from the outset, Pogatetz will be making his 50th start in a Middlesbrough shirt.

If he next plays from the outset, Chris Riggott will be making his 100th start for the Riversiders.

LIVERPOOL

Won and lost in equal measure in the Premiership this term (won five, lost five and drawn two).

Opponents have opened the scoring in eight of Liverpool's 12 League games. Only West Ham have an inferior record, conceding the first goal on nine occasions.

Hold a 100% Premiership record when scoring first (won four of four) and when keeping clean sheets (won three of three).

Gone 22 top flight matches without a goalless draw, since the home clash with Charlton on 4 March.

Failed to score in six of the last eight away from home, in all competitions.

Gained just one point on the road, since ending the last League season with a 1-3 win at Portsmouth on 7 May.

Their 14 League goals have been scored by nine different players.

Of the Premiership clubs, only Newcastle have played more League and Cup games than Liverpool (the Magpies 22, the Reds 21).

Conceded eight Premiership goals in the 15 minute segments either side of half-time. That's more than any other club.

The next Premiership fixtures are both at home, against Manchester City and Portsmouth.

Peter Crouch is Liverpool's top scorer with eight goals.

Jose Manuel Reina is the only remaining player to have figured in every minute of the Reds' Premiership matches this season.

If he plays, Steve Finnan will be making his 100th Premiership appearance for Liverpool.

Craig Bellamy is a hat-trick shy of 50 Premier League goals (Coventry, Newcastle, Blackburn and Liverpool).
