MANCHESTER UNITED v MIDDLESBROUGH BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
By Jonathan Turner
Motivation is looking like it's becoming a real problem for Middlesbrough.
They've now lost five of their last six and that includes an abject surrender at home to Aston Villa last weekend - when they lost 3-1 despite taking the lead - and a lifeless display at West Ham.
Admittedly they were slightly better in midweek at Liverpool but Old Trafford and a match against the on-song Premiership leaders is daunting at the best of times.
Gareth Southgate will take some hope from the fact that his side managed to push Manchester United all the way in their FA Cup quarter-final but the Red Devils are flying at present with 13 goals in their last three and there's surely no way they'll slip up here.
That's fully reflected in the prices on offer though and if there's an angle then it's to again latch onto Michael Carrick who is having a fantastic end to the season.
He's certainly worth a look on the man-of-the-match market, though no prices are available at the time of writing, and also at 6/1 to find the net again.
He's ghosted forward from midfield to great effect lately - as shown by four goals in his last six games - and against a static Boro rearguard which has been breached by fellow midfielders Steven Gerrard, Stiliyan Petrov and Craig Gardner in their last two outings, that looks a price well worth taking.
Verdict: Manchester United 3 Middlesbrough 1
