PORTSMOUTH v MIDDLESBROUGH BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
By Jonathan Turner
This pair have a contrasting set of fixtures coming up - Pompey taking on strugglers Wigan and Manchester City after this while it's Arsenal and Chelsea up next for Boro.
And Portsmouth look a decent bet at even money to start building up some winning momentum because - their shock defeat against Charlton last time out apart - they've been tough to beat on home turf.
Harry Redknapp's men, who have been in the top six all season, have lost just twice at Fratton Park and that contrasts sharply with Boro's away record of one win in twelve.
In fairness to Gareth Southgate's side they have picked up recently with three wins out of three in the Premiership in 2007, including a hugely impressive 5-1 hammering of Bolton.
But a common theme in all those was a big display from striker Mark Viduka and he's a doubt for this because of a hamstring injury.
And the head-to-head record also merits a mention - Pompey are unbeaten in the seven fixtures between the pair in the Premiership, winning every match at Fratton Park while they were also 4-0 winners at the Riverside back in August.
Verdict: Portsmouth 3 Middlesbrough 1
