READING v MIDDLESBROUGH TEAM NEWS
Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate is confident England winger Stewart Downing will be fit for today's Barclays Premiership opener at Reading.
Downing returned from international duty against Greece with a dead leg, but should be fit.
Lee Cattermole (ankle) and Ugo Ehiogu (Achilles) are out and Ray Parlour (knee) is a doubt, but Gaizka Mendieta could be back from a long-standing Achilles injury.
Reading will be without winger Glen Little for their Premiership debut.
The former Burnley man has been ruled out by a hamstring injury, joining broken ankle victim Aaron Brown on the sidelines.
Utility man Brynjar Gunnarsson is available again following time on the sidelines because of a groin problem.
Reading Squad: Hahnemann, Stack, Murty, Sonko, Ingimarsson, Sodje, Halls, Shorey, Seol, Harper, Sidwell, Hunt, Gunnarsson, Convey, Oster, Kitson, Doyle, Lita, Long, Cox.
Middlesbrough Squad: Schwarzer, Turnbull, Parnaby, Davies, Arca, Pogatetz, Taylor, Riggott, Bates, Morrison, Boateng, Rochemback, Downing, Mendieta, Johnson, Parlour, Viduka, Yakubu, Maccarone.
