MIDDLESBROUGH v WATFORD BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
by Jonathan Turner
Boro aren't usually a side to trust from a betting point of view but they look well worth an interest at 8/11 in this.
That may seem a strange thing to say about a team who have failed to win in six and who suffered a tame defeat at West Ham last time out and were beaten by an out-of-form Manchester City in their last game at the Riverside.
However their FA Cup quarter-final with Manchester United was a real focus of attention and their exit from that competition was always likely to have a negative effect.
But Gareth Southgate and his players have regrouped this week and have a glorious chance to kick off their run-in with a victory over Watford.
For it's hard to knock a home record which has produced 27 of their 36 points and they meet a Hornets outfit which has picked up just seven points on their travels this term.
And while other sides in the relegation battle are giving themselves an outside chance of survival, that's not the case with Watford.
They look all but doomed and two points from the last 15 on offer hardly suggests a major turnaround, while they've also got the distraction of an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon.
Admittedly one of the bright points of a desperately tough season was a 2-0 win over Boro back in November but revenge beckons now for Southgate's men - and the 8/11 looks generous.
Verdict: Middlesbrough 3 Watford 0
