WEST HAM v MIDDLESBROUGH - BIG MATCH FACTS
West Ham set about the job of closing the eight point gap between themselves and the survival line.
They've won twice in the Premiership under Alan Curbishley. Now the "Boleyn bubble-blowers" are attempting to notch back-to-back victories for the first time in 20 top flight engagements. Middlesbrough get away from Manchester opposition, having been knocked out of the FA Cup by United after embarrassment at home to a struggling City.
WEST HAM UNITED
Not gained consecutive Premiership victories since Blackburn and Arsenal were defeated on 29 October and 5 November respectively.
The 1-2 victory at Blackburn last time out ended an eight-game winless run in all competitions and a sequence of five straight League defeats.
That win was their first in 12 Premiership outings.
Lost more times in the top table than any other club (19).
Scored the opening goal in only seven Premiership games and conceded the opener in 22. Every other club has fared better than that.
Have failed to score in 16 League matches, as have Watford .
Kept just four Premiership clean sheets - fewer than any other club with the exception of Tottenham - who've managed the same.
Lost more home games than any other club in the top table (eight) and conceded more goals on home turf (21).
Marlon Harewood needs two goals to notch 100 career League goals. He could do it in his 150th West Ham start.
Dean Ashton needs two goals to bring his career total of club goals to 100.
Matthew Etherington could make his 100th career League start whilst Daniel Gabbidon could make his 50th Premiership start for West Ham.
Teddy Sheringham could make his 50th start in a West Ham shirt.
MIDDLESBROUGH
Not won in four, drawing two and losing two since the victory on penalties against West Brom in the FA Cup on 27 February.
Failed to score in three of the last four in all competitions.
Won one of six Premiership outings and have scored in only one of the last four League games.
Last suffered successive Premiership defeats against Manchester United (h) and Tottenham (a) on 2 and 5 December.
No goals and no wins in three League games on the road.
Not netted a League goal away from the Riverside since the 1-3 victory over Charlton at the Valley on 13 January.
Mark Schwarzer could be keeping goal for the 400th time for Boro.
