MIDDLESBROUGH v WEST HAM BETTING ZONE PREVIEW
Ben Linfoot
Any side who can beat Chelsea 2-1 and then lose to Portsmouth 4-0 just five days later cannot be trusted.
Middlesbrough, who managed such a feat at home earlier in the season, are possibly the most inconsistent team in the Premiership.
They looked to be getting their season back on track recently with back to back home wins over Everton and Newcastle, but they followed those victories up with dreadful away defeats to Manchester City and previously winless Watford.
Why oh why then would anybody tip them up against a resurgent West Ham team buoyed by two wins in a row over Blackburn and Arsenal?
Well, because West Ham travel about as well as a static caravan.
Alan Pardew's side have scored just twice on the road this season, on their way to four defeats and a draw.
And the long trip up north to the Riverside is an annual nightmare for the Londoners.
Their only win at Middlesbrough since they met in the old division two in 1990 was a 1-0 triumph in the FA Cup last season.
Indeed, Boro' have won seven of the last eight meetings in the league between the two in the north east, and the other game was a 2-2 draw.
At 5/4 I'm going to trust that trend to continue.
Verdict: Middlesbrough 2 West Ham 1
