SOUTH KOREA v TOGO - MATCH PREVIEW II

South Korea v Togo is a match that may be swung on experience. This is Togo's debut World Cup whereas it is the South Korean's seventh. The Asian side have qualified for the last six consecutive tournaments although once they get there they tend to be eliminated in the first round. It was only in the last World Cup, in their own country, that they managed to proceed to the knock-out stages, surprising the world (and probably themselves) by finishing fourth.

Experience is also important in the management of the Asian side. Dick Advocaat has managed his native Dutch side twice and also the United Arab Emerates. He led the Dutch side to the quarter-finals in the 1994 World Cup and the semi-finals of Euro 2004. Domestically he has won the Dutch Cup with PSV in 1996 and he also won a myriad of trophies with Rangers in his three year spell there.

Ten of the South Korean squad were present in the last World Cup, which culminated in a fourth place finish for the Asian side. Amongst them include the inspirational captain Lee Woon-Jae, Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United, Tottenham's Lee Young-Pyo and Wolves' Seol Ki-Hyeon who have made 82, 63, 57 and 93 international experiences respectively.

In contrast Togo have little experience at this level. The majority of their squad play in either the French or German leagues although in Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor they do have a striker which is a threat. He is almost a national hero in Togo and is highly thought of, despite a temprement that may lead to him being booked early on in this game. At 20/1 this is a very good value bet.

However many believe that the African nation are out of their depth here. They lost all three of their games in the African Cup of Nations and their manager, Otto Pfister has only had a few weeks with the players having only been appointed in February. Yet despite this they do possess players with many international caps, with Yaovi Dosseh Abalo, Eric Akoto, Kaka Aziawono, goalkeeper Kossi Agassa and striker Mohammed Kader all having more than fourty.

It is hard to see beyond a Korean victory and the value bet here is to go look at goal margins or team goals. However don't expect a heavy Togoan defeat, with Abalo and Akoto forming an experienced central defensive partnership, aided by Agassa (who has fourty-eight caps), the African side will be difficult to break down. Yet expect the Koreans to have too much for them. And with Paddy Power's £10 free bet offer when you open an account there has never been a greater time to place a bet!
