FRANCE v BRAZIL - FRENCH SLASHED AFTER FIGHTBACK
France were slashed to 15/2 by VC bet to win the World Cup following their 3-1 win over Spain on Tuesday night.
The French, as big as 5/2 to win in 90 minutes and 25/1 on the outrights before kick-off, came from a goal down to book their quarter-final spot.
David Villa's penalty had put the fancied Spaniards in front but Franck Ribery equalised just before half-time and late goals from Patrick Vieira and Zinedine Zidane took a vastly improved French side into the last eight.
However, their quarter-final opponents are tournament favourites Brazil and, with that in mind,
Paddy Power are still willing to offer France at 11/1.
Brazil secured their last eight berth with a 3-0 win over Ghana and are now no better than 5/2 to lift the trophy.
Goals from Ronaldo, Adriano and Ze Roberto saw off the Africans who created plenty of chances but were let down by poor finishing.
Ronaldo's early strike made it three in two games for the so-called 'overweight has-been' and he's now a general 5/2 chance to finish as top scorer for the second World Cup running.
Germany's Miroslave Klose still heads the charts with four goals and is 9/4 favourite in most books.
Sporting Odds make Argentina and Germany - who meet in the quarter-finals on Friday - their joint 9/2 second favourites to lift the trophy.
England and Italy are both 6/1 while Portugal are 12s. Ukraine are the rank outsiders at 50/1.
