BORO CELEBRATE ‘COMMUNITY PRIDE’
By Middlesbrough FC
Thousands of pupils from Teesside schools with close links with Boro’s community work are being offered tickets for this Saturday’s crucial home game with Portsmouth.
Boro’s Community Pride Day celebrates the wide array of work carried out by the club in the local community.
As part of that celebration, Boro are offering tickets to pupils from local primary and secondary schools that work closely with Middlesbrough Football Club in the Community.
They have the chance to snap up tickets for themselves and an accompanying adult for just £20 a pair – a saving of up to £19 on normal ticket prices.
This one-off initiative is available only through participating schools.
Rob Lake, Manager of Middlesbrough Football Club Community Project, said: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to celebrate the many great working initiatives we share with local schools.
“We hope many of the pupils who have benefited from our work with them will take the opportunity to attend Saturday’s big match.”
Over the past 12 months, 30,000 young people have benefited from MFC in the Community’s work. These include the Enterprise Academy to encourage entrepreneurial skills, Football First to encourage positive lifestyles and Heading for Health to promote health awareness and physical activities, while the MFC Study Support Centre helps improve literacy and numeracy skills.
Saturday’s match, the 250th league game since the opening of the Riverside Stadium in 1995, will also include a homecoming parade around the pitch by 120 local members of the Coldstream Guards and Green Howards, who have recently returned from action in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The band of the Coldstream Guards will also perform before the match, while a juggler, face-painters, give-aways and competitions will add to the entertainment.
Tickets are available for the game, priced £9 (under-11s), from £15 (under-16s and over-65s) and from £24 adults.
They can be purchased 24 hours a day from the club's official website or by calling the Boro tickets hotline on 0844 499 1234. They are also available from the Riverside Stadium ticket office between 9.30am and 5pm weekdays and 9.30am to 3pm kick-off on Saturday, together with MFC Retail in Captain Cook Square, 9.30am-5pm Thursday and Friday, and 9.30am to 12 midday on Saturday.
