The Reebok Stadium will not be a place for the faint hearted on Sunday afternoon as Boro look to build on the hard earned point against Spurs by taking something from their visit to the side second bottom in the table.

It's yet another Premier League six pointer for a Boro side, hopefully fresh from their visit to the Lake District designed to help team bonding and provide some variety ahead of the journey to the north-west.

Luke Young's spectacular point saver against Spurs not only stopped the losing sequence but also must be amongst the contenders for the greatest goal scored at the Riverside.

It is certainly amongst my top two candidates for best goal I have seen from a Boro full back, with only Gary Parkinson's screamer at Goodison Park in an FA Cup replay in 1990, that would rival Luke Young for the top spot.

The goal came as a welcome boost to Young who must have found it tough after spending last season trying to help Charlton avoid the drop and then finding himself involved in another battle to get away from the bottom three.

Nevertheless, Luke has been a consistent performer for his new club even though the ability to score 25-yard volleys into the top corner of the net did not appear to be on his CV when Gareth brought him from the Valley!

Luke did admit that his goal celebration needed working on but the fans that travel to Bolton would quite happily accept another quality strike no matter what the reaction.

Sadly, the main talking point amongst the fans this week hasn't been the Young wonder goal but whether supporters should boo their own side during a match.

The issue has occupied the airwaves and filled many newspaper column inches, looking back at the Spurs match in isolation I think that it was incredibly hard on the players for some sections of the crowd to boo on the final whistle.

The team had worked hard to get a draw that might yet prove to be a turning point in the season against a side that will, almost certainly, finish in the top half of the table.

Clearly, the reaction was one of frustration about a season that has not turned out, so far, as hoped and supporters do fear being dragged into a long winter battle for survival.

Living in the Boro I know how tough it is for many people to scrape the cash together to go to the Riverside and that sacrifices have to be made but when the fans are in full voice behind the side what a difference it can make.

Who can forget the Riverside roar that swept Boro to the UEFA Cup final against Steaua Bucharest or the night in 1998 when supporters ears were still buzzing days after Liverpool had been turned over in the League Cup semi-final.

The crucial factor, in both, was the volume of support and I hope that in future games any frustration is expressed after the match and during the ninety minutes we let the opposition players know that the fans and the team are as one.

Getting back to Sunday and traditionally matches at Bolton are hard fought affairs.

The last three visits to the Reebok have all ended in draws and both sides are hardly in peak form.

Wanderers have a new boss in Gary Megson who has guided his team to three draws against Aston Villa at home, West Ham away and last night's fantastic result in the Allianz Arena against Bayern Munich.

The Megson appointment was hardly greeted with enthusiasm by Bolton fans after the departure of Sammy Lee, but the draw at Upton Park did show signs that the old Bolton team spirit has returned which is a cause for Boro concern.

In addition, with games to come against Manchester United and Liverpool after the international break Bolton are targeting Sunday as a must win game.

With a return of two points from twenty one and a run of four successive away defeats Boro need to bring something back from the Reebok but to find their last win at the home of the Wanderers you need to go back to Bolton's old ground, Burnden Park, in April 1987.

Boro were pushing for promotion from Division Three but the game seemed destined for a goalless draw until a certain Bernard Joseph Slaven scored a last gasp winner.

The Wanderers keeper, Dave Felgate, launched the ball high out of the ground in disgust prompting a commentator to yell, "Felgates disgusted but we are all delighted!" As a big step was taken on the road to promotion less than a year after the liquidation crisis that threatened the club's existence.

Completing the history lesson, the last top flight win for Boro at Bolton was a 2-0 triumph in November 1950 and not even I was commentating on that one!

Clearly, another win is overdue!!

I would just like to say a big "thank you" to all the fans that have kindly bought the book "Voice of the Boro" and certainly the complimentary parmo cd has received a lot of terrific feedback.

I was delighted when John Hickton travelled from his home in Chesterfield to be at the launch night held at sponsors Joe Rigatonis in Middlesbrough.

The book is dedicated to John, my first Boro hero, and for him to take the trouble to drive up to the Boro to add his support was a gesture I will never forget.

If only we could put "King John" into a time machine and let him play for Boro at Bolton on Sunday, three points would be guaranteed!

Bernie and I will be back with Simply Red Sunday on Century fm on Sunday previewing the Bolton game between 11 and 1pm.

Guests will include Jamie Pollock, Jim Platt and John Hendrie so why not join in the fun by calling 08450021100 or send a text to 85102. There will also be the usual chance to win Sunday lunch for two at the Bluebell Hotel, Acklam Road, Middlesbrough.

Up the Boro !!

We guarantee this bet

It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that we have been publishing arbitrage bets for four seasons now and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.

Only twice has our refund guarantee been triggered and that was when we did all the figures wrong and sent refunds out to those who had followed our advice and made a small loss.

Our refund guarantee works like this. If this bet doesn't work like we say it will and you end up out of pocket, we will refund your losses. Simple as that.

That means that you simply cannot lose on this, whatever happens and even if we messed up the numbers.

The only stipulation here is that you must click on the links on this page to be eligible for the refund guarantee, not that you'll be needing to claim anyway. Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
