JEFF WINTER'S SOCCER SPOTLIGHT 14-8-07
Jeff Winter

Toby Higgins

Since the launch of my website www.jeffwinter.co.uk, I have received many emails which I always reply to personally. I recently received this one which really got my mind working.

Jeff, The gazette have printed propaganda all in favour of Boro all close season. It's about time we got some truth from the the club.

A rival radio station has booted out a great commentary team for daring to tell the truth. Eric Paylor I suppose has to be carefull or he will get the axe.

Jeff - on your first show you went down the same lines saying all good things about Boro, don't go down that path mate. Boro fans have walked out in their thousands, TRUTH is what we need.

Alan From Thornaby

My reply

I have had many conversations over the Bernie/Ali sacking. Firstly to correct Alan, as many of you are aware, it was Boro's decision to give exclusive rights to BBC Radio Tees. In fact both the presenters are still working for Century.

It does seem out there though there is a feeling against the Boro and some expect me to join the bandwagon. Well hold your horses, firstly I am and never ever will be anybody's mouth-piece. Those who have read my articles over the last couple of years should know that.

I have had a go at pricing, stewarding, players, etc etc etc and will continue to do so. I think everybody knows my views on Yakubu and Viduka and their like. They have also felt the wrath of my forthright tongue. I tell it the way I see it and will continue to do so.

But I will never ever turn against the club and by that I mean the team. I have just finished reading Ali and Coxy's excellent Class of 86 and I suggest that every so called Boro fan does so. Also, every player should be forced to read it before ever pulling on a Boro shirt.

Having done so, they might realize what MFC means to many many people.

Again this week they have started, MOD 2 - Adrian Chiles sarcastically having a pop at the empty seats. Now a fan's census states that the Riverside is the worst ground to visit and that Newcastle is the best. You are having a laugh aren't you? You need binoculars to see the game from the away end at the Toon and judging by the empty seats every week in the south stand then not many away fans have ever been to the Boro.

Yes, the access to the ground, the sit-down stewards etc they might have a point with, but it's just general get at Boro time again. It won't be long before Tuncay and Aliadiere are allegedly quoted as dissing our town, our women and our parmos.

To make matters worse, now some of our own supporters are jumping on the bandwagon. The empty seats are an embarrassment; I have championed the cause for cheaper tickets but is that really the issue? A lack of entertaining football they cry, give Gareth a chance, were you there on Saturday?

Fast furious, entertaining, but we lost, oh there's another excuse not to go.

Looking at Class of 86, the one thing that surprised me was the attendances back then, time, beer and quickly approaching senility had made me forget that back then we played to crowds of around 10,000. It's only recently that the new ground/new fan has come on board. They have seen more success in ten years than other fans have seen in their entire lifetimes.

The one thing I will say is that we have the most loyal fans around, There are just not enough of us, not enough that is to fill a 35,000 stadium. We are a small town, who have continued to box above it's weight and of that I am extremely proud.

So Alan, to you and the others out there who want the truth, you will always get it from me but if you are a supporter - a real supporter - you should be down there, finances and work permitting, every game cheering them on.

I remember back in 1986 when it nearly ended. Times may have changed, attitudes might have changed, money has killed the game, but the love and pride you have in your football side should stay forever.

I mean, what else would you have to moan about?

We guarantee this bet

It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that we have been publishing arbitrage bets for four seasons now and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.

Only twice has our refund guarantee been triggered and that was when we did all the figures wrong and sent refunds out to those who had followed our advice and made a small loss.

Our refund guarantee works like this. If this bet doesn't work like we say it will and you end up out of pocket, we will refund your losses. Simple as that.

That means that you simply cannot lose on this, whatever happens and even if we messed up the numbers.

The only stipulation here is that you must click on the links on this page to be eligible for the refund guarantee, not that you'll be needing to claim anyway. Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
