I would suppose that most true football fans, Manchester United apart, would not begrudge Manchester City fans some glory. For many a long year they have gone up and down the divisions, flattering to deceive.
Throughout all of this their support has remained loyal and vociferous. Last season when it looked like Sven had them moving in the right direction once more the dream died and their season ended as we know at the Riverside with total embarrassment.
The problems connected with foreign ownership came home to roost, a new manager was appointed then above his head players like Corluka appeared to be sold to the highest bidder. Could it get any worse? Then a last miracle happened and almost overnight City are poised to become one of the biggest players in world football.
Many of these foreign investors have got “balance sheet” millions but as the fans of Liverpool have seen that is not always liquid enough to pay for grounds and highly priced players. The Arabs though are a different entity altogether and can make Abramovich seem quite ordinary.
Their intervention can change the game as we know it; just look at what they have done to horse racing. Am I jealous? You bet. As much as Steve Gibson is the “best” chairman in the Premier League, he cannot in a million years hope to compete with the likes of the new breed of investors.
I am sure before long one of the clubs that have foreign owners will go tits up, as the owners without a love or care for football bail out and leave the remnants of a once great club behind them. That though it unlikely to happen to Manchester City. They are in a position to buy who they want when they want.

millions and joins a club who are at present a long way behind
Chelsea. Why? Well its obvious

It is now obvious that the Manager of a club has little or no say in who the club buys, Mark Hughes though hardly disappointed, was an obvious bystander whilst the new owners sought a present or two for the club. If a manager is not even consulted about who his club buys, then he has no security when instant results do not materialize.
In January if City decide they want Wheater or Downing or anyone else for that matter, they will literally just come and take them. All of a sudden the chances of competing and having a forlorn hope of winning something have diminished as another club is catapulted into the 'Millionaires only League'.
For the rest of us, the mini regional leagues, pride and the occasional victory against one of the big boys is now probably the best we can hope for, along with the continued amusement as Newcastle United continue to be the 'cartoon army' with crisis after crisis.
Then again with the fan base they have, surely sooner or later they too will get a foreign owner who rather than swallowing pints in one and wear a team shirt will actually invest money in the club. Now that would be too much to take for Boro fans.
I went to Hartlepool last night to watch their JPT game with Leicester City and although they got beat, it was real football like it used to be!
