FLY ME TO THE MOON v COMEONBORO.COM - MATCH REPORT

ComeOnBoro.com went into this match with a point to prove, having failed to win any matches this season and determined to reverse their poor fortune. And what a perfect time to do it, against their arch-rivals Fly Me To The Moon on a cold blustery day in deepest darkest Stokesley.

TEAMS FOR THE BIG MATCH

The illness caused to Mr Montana caused a major headache in midfield and it was clear to see that the COB star-man was far from form. However, after taking a large dose of performance enhancing substances supplied by a ComeOnBoro official, he made some crunching tackles in the heart of the pitch, helping his side keep the score respectable.

FMTTM left the traps the quickest. In fact FMTTM left the traps, COB willing to preen themselves first and look around perplexed to see what was happening. They were 2-0 down before the official match reporter turned up but then that's what you get when you get a lift from ladies.

You could tell a whitewash was on the cards just by looking at the squads. Clean, fit, mean, the FMTTM side were the complete opposite of the COB side, who all boasted a nice pair of man-boobs to boot. Pitted against a hardened unit who have allegedly played together most weeks this season, what else could be expected?

The crowd was in fine voice throughout the match although the chanting never got beyond calling the COB goalie. There was no singing either so it was pretty much home from home when compared with the Riverside.

Blood, sweat and tears were there for the cause, although the tears came exclusively from Monty the COB manager. With his job on the line and the chairman giving him a vote of no confidence, things were looking tough for the refereeing maestro.

Back on the pitch and most of FMTTM's joy was coming through the centre and the right of the pitch and usually from the same players. Their forward scored the first four and you had to feel for Stuey Ward in goal who was hideously exposed on many occasions. But thankfully not in that sense.

By the time the score had reached 6-0, with a diving desperate Bean trying to head off the line but only succeeding to head the ball into the top of his own net you knew it was not going to be COB's day.

It was the midfield that arguably let the side down, failing to track back and support the defence in vital moments. They had obviously been watching the Boro's technique of allowing the opposition to cut easily through the midfield and had learnt the lesson well. But in the end good link-up play and strong understanding between the lively FMTTM centre-forwards proved to be COB's undoing.

Cue the second half and it was a case of trying to avoid a cricket scoreline. Except at 6-0 it already was. So bets of ten, eleven, twelve were being laid and they weren't far wrong.

Yet Monty's half-time team talk must have done the trick as COB came out firing after the interval. So much so that this reporter missed the first ten minutes and the first two goals (again to FMTTM) of the half, after being too busy downing his Carling in the bar.

The crowd were more subdued at this point although that may have had more to do with COB managing not to concede for a full fifteen minute period. But when the deadlock was broken the goals came once more and as the tenth was notched up you started to fear the worst.

But in true Boro style COB came into it in the final ten minutes and started peppering FMTTM's goal with shots. The impressive pairing of Mark and Jordan were finally allowed to shine, particularly Mark who saw a wonderful piece of close ball control end in a shot that narrowly shaved the outside of the post.

Luck was not on COB's side. After a fantastic point-blank save by Gaizka14 the ball rebounded to their other striker who stroked the ball home with ease. That made it 9-0 although those in the audience from Hartlepool were starting to find it difficult to count at this stage.

An opening goal went begging a mere minute later after a good stop from the FMTTM keeper. At the other end meanwhile Gaizka14 had started to play a blinder. Injured after a cynical stamp on his hand in the first half, he pulled off string after string of top drawer saves, making up for being nut-megged for the fifth goal in the first half.

A corner was floated in after this and Frankish got a good head to it but unfortunately could not keep it down. Desperation had now started to set in, with even Gaizka being called up for a corner. Unfortunately the ball went out before it reached the edge of the penalty area. Expect Leeds United to sign the corner taker next week.

In the dying minutes of the game COB won a dubious penalty that former referee Jeff Winter said was 'clear-cut'. Yes, right. All I saw was a FMTTM player crumpled in a heap but I believe Frankish was pushed in the back whilst attempting to head the ball. Either way Jordan dispatched the penalty, the crowd disturbed slightly, the whistle blew and that was the end of that. 11-1. A respectable score indeed, if you remember that we decided to score in binary.

So congratulations to FMTTM for winning the inaugural contest between the two biggest and best Boro websites around. Also thanks to Jeff Winter and Terry Cochrane for plugging the day, to Stokesley and Middlesbrough Football Clubs for allowing us to use their facilities and for donating raffle prizes respectively and to Rob Nicholls and Steve Goldby for organising the event. And thanks to all those who donated money and supported this prodigious event.

The final total raised will be finalised later this week when all cheques and donations have come in but £384.82 was collected on the day from the raffle and collection buckets. We expect the final total to exceed £500.

So here's to the winners, FMTTM but the big winner here was the Finlay Cooper Fund. If you would still like to donate then please contact us.

We guarantee this bet

It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that this is the fifth season that we have been publishing arbitrage bets and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.

Only twice has our refund guarantee been triggered and that was when we did all the figures wrong and sent refunds out to those who had followed our advice and made a small loss.

Our refund guarantee works like this. If this bet doesn't work like we say it will and you end up out of pocket, we will refund your losses. Simple as that.

That means that you simply cannot lose on this, whatever happens and even if we messed up the numbers.

The only stipulation here is that you must click on the links on this page to be eligible for the refund guarantee, not that you'll be needing to claim anyway. Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
