ABEL XAVIER - MY DRUG HELL
He leans further back in his chair as the mind-numbing effect takes control. As the eyes glaze over and the dry lips part in a wry, empty smile, the brain temporarily closes down and becomes unreceptive to all that is going on around him.
Steve McClaren really must find a way of getting his players to listen to his team talks, as the effect that they are having is clearly being carried onto the field.
It was at the Sunderland game a couple of weeks ago when suspicions first arose.
"Ow Xavier - are you on drugs or something?" asked a lone, angry voice from the North Stand. But as the club rarely listens to the fans, the warning went unheeded.
But the truth is that our very own comedy Mr T is very far from being a hopeless smacked-up drug-riddled dope head. Quite the opposite in fact.
Mr T feeling the effects
Mr T arrived in Boro a mere seven weeks ago to a less than enthusiastic welcome. Thirteen starts at Liverpool, after which he was told to 'sling his hook' and a less then impressive two and a half years with Everton had the Boro crowd asking why we had acquired a duffer.
But he was not a player that Steve McClaren persued through the open market, instead offering the then free agent a week's trial, making it a no-risk exercise for Boro.
He impressed and got himself a year's contract and despite the obvious reservations that the fanbase had, he has since impressed us all with his performances and has proved to be a far better player than the man he replaced, Michael Reiziger.
So where did it all go wrong for Abel? How did the man who was flying so high come crashing down to earth so quickly?
Well we won't know for sure until tomorrow when he makes his promised personal statement on the situation but we support Abel Xavier to the hilt.
We know for a fact that he he is clean and innocent and we have 100% confidence that the allegations against him will prove to be unfounded.
Because let's face it, there is no way on this planet that performance enhancing substances can possibly have been made available to any of the Boro team this season.
