CLEVELAND CARS 1 ICELAND 2 - MATCH REPORT
Iceland seem to save their best performances for when Cleveland Cars are the opposition and today they completed the double over them.
The game started with Iceland having most of the possession but after ten minutes Cleveland Cars scored with their first real attack of the game.
With results going as they have done since the last time Iceland played Cleveland Cars, it could have been expected for heads to go down among the Iceland team but they continued to use the ball well.
Steve Docherty was getting a lot of success on the right and Steve Owens and Karl Brunskill were running the midfield.
On the half hour Steve Owens received the ball in midfield and unleashed a bullet of a shot from thirty yards into the top left hand corner of the net.
It was a fantastic equaliser and for the rest of the half it was end to end stuff with both sides trying to gain the lead.
The second half started with Cleveland Cars pushing hard to regain the lead but Iceland were up to the challenge, especially with debutant centre back Shane Timmons marshalling the defence.
Cleveland Cars were getting anxious and started resorting to the long ball but it was to little effect.
On sixty minutes Gareth Davidson teed up Paul Muthana who "passed" the ball into the net, making it 2-1 to Iceland.
The rest of the game was played at pace with neither side giving the game up but Iceland finished deserved winners.
