Barnsley will be without suspended defender Dennis Souza for the important derby clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

The Brazilian, a virtual ever-present in Simon Davey's starting line-up following his summer arrival from Belgian side Charleroi, sits out a one-game ban under the totting-up procedure.

Davey, who has hinted at several changes, will again be without influential midfielder Anderson De Silva (knee), so Diego Leon could be promoted from the bench.

Defender Rob Kozluk has shaken off the hamstring injury that kept him out in midweek and could return to the starting line-up at full-back.

Strikers Daniel Nardiello and Michael Coulson have also recovered from knocks and will be included in the squad and on-loan goalkeeper Luke Steele is expected to retain his place in the side following Tony Warner's return to Fulham.

Wednesday will be without Lee Bullen and Jermaine Johnson for the clash at Oakwell.

Club skipper Bullen tore a hamstring in last week's home win over Cardiff and will be sidelined for up to three weeks, while Johnson sits out a one-game ban under the totting-up procedure.

But Tommy Spurr is back from illness and is expected to return at full-back, with Richard Hinds continuing on the opposite flank.

Manager Brian Laws could be tempted to hand Chelsea teenager Ben Sahar a start after he stepped off the bench against Cardiff, but Deon Burton is back in the reckoning after scoring for the reserves in midweek.

Laws must also decide whether he wants to split up front two Enoch Showunmi and Marcus Tudgay, who has scored three in his last five matches.

The Owls are still without long-term absentees Akpo Sodje, Francis Jeffers, Frank Simek (all ankle), Steve Watson (hamstring) and Leon Clarke (knee).
