Barnsley ended their scoring woes in emphatic style as they struck four second-half goals, despite being down to 10 men, to come from behind against South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster at Oakwell today.
The Tykes came into the game having failed to hit the back of the net in five games since late August.
And their hopes of avoiding another fruitless afternoon looked slim when Darren Moore was sent off with his side already trailing to Brian Stock's ninth-minute penalty.
Story continues below...
But they produced a stunning fightback led by their captain Stephen Foster who brought them level just three minutes after Moore's dismissal.
It ended an eight-hour wait for the Tykes to score a league goal, and the floodgates opened as Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Jon Macken and Iain Hume also netted to give Barnsley - who had only scored four goals in the league all season before today - just their second win of the campaign.
Defeat for Rovers was made to feel even worse as they dropped below their rivals in the table after suffering their sixth consecutive defeat.
Tykes boss Simon Davey again included 15-year-old striker Reuben Noble-Lazarus on ths bench after he became the youngest player in Football League history when he stepped off the bench in the 3-0 midweek defeat at Ipswich.
The teenager took his place alongside Macken who made way for on-loan Blackburn forward Maceo Rigters, in the only change for the Tykes.
The visitors had already thought they had gone ahead before their ninth minute penalty when Lewis Guy was flagged for offside after prodding in a James Coppinger cross.
The away fans did not have to wait long though as Foster needlessly pushed Guy out of the way as he sought to clear Coppinger's floated ball into the area and concede a spot-kick.
Referee Phil Dowd's decision prompted protests from the home side, and after a short delay, Stock kept his cool converting low to Heinz Muller's right despite the goalkeeper guessing the correct way to dive.
Rovers were looking the more adventerous side with the pace of Guy causing concern as he twice drifted past Moore with ease although Barnsley showed signs of recovering the deficit as Neil Sullivan was called on to make diving saves to deny Rob Kozluk and Dennis Souza before the interval.
The game continued at a frantic pace after the break although the home side were rocked after 50 minutes when Moore, who spent three seasons at Rovers in the mid-90s, was shown a straight red card after he hauled down Guy as the last man.
But just as the Tykes afternoon looked to be going from bad to worse they ended their goalscoring drought.
The break came in scrappy circumstances as Foster made up for conceding the earlier penalty to tap in after a goalmouth scramble in the 53rd minute.
The Tykes fans only had to wait another six minutes to see another goal.
Campbell-Ryce cut inside the defence at the point of the area and shot low across Sullivan.
Davey, who has come in for some criticsm in recent weeks, could have been forgiven for a smile as he saw Macken score with his first touch after coming on as a substitute in the 73rd minute.
Hume smashed in a long-range shot with five minutes remaining to seal a memorable comeback win.
Teams:
Barnsley: Muller, Foster, Moore, Guedes, Kozluk, Campbell-Ryce, De Silva, Leon (Hassell 61), Devaney, Hume (Noble-Lazarus 87), Rigters (Macken 72).

We guarantee this bet
It's understandable that some people will not believe that it is possible to do this. "What's the catch?" I hear you asking. My answer to that question is that this is the fifth season that we have been publishing arbitrage bets and literally hundreds of people have profited from following the advice on these pages.
Only twice has our refund guarantee been triggered and that was when we did all the figures wrong and sent refunds out to those who had followed our advice and made a small loss.
Our refund guarantee works like this. If this bet doesn't work like we say it will and you end up out of pocket, we will refund your losses. Simple as that.
That means that you simply cannot lose on this, whatever happens and even if we messed up the numbers.
The only stipulation here is that you must click on the links on this page to be eligible for the refund guarantee, not that you'll be needing to claim anyway. Just enjoy the profit and stay posted for many more of these throughout the season.
