MIDDLESBROUGH v ARSENAL - ALIADIERE SUPPORTS SOUTHGATE
Jeremie Aliadiere says the Middlesbrough players are behind their manager Gareth Southgate despite the recent poor run.
The striker revealed that their recent dismal run has taken its toll on both the players and the manager, and that it is has been hard at times to remain positive.
Middlesbrough have failed to win since their 2-0 victory over Birmingham at the start of September, and have drawn four and lost seven of the 11 games since.
This disastrous run of form has seen the club drop into the relegation places in the Premier League, and things are unlikely to get any easier as they welcome league leaders Arsenal to the Riverside on Sunday.
The pressure is understandably starting to build on manager Gareth Southgate, who will be all too aware that he may be out of job in the near future if he fails to turn things around.
Aliadiere, who will face his former club for the first time at the weekend, has backed his boss though and believes that with a bit of luck the club will become upwardly mobile again sooner rather than later.
"We are all playing for him," he said.
"We want to win every time we go on to the pitch and I'm sure if we have a bit more luck things will change for the manager and us.
"He has been trying to stay positive and it has been difficult because we have not won a game for a long time.
"You can't stop thinking about that, but you have to keep going and he has been doing that.
"We hear all the time about the managers that are getting sacked, but as players we don't try and think about that."
Southgate is hoping that he will have Julio Arca back in his squad to face the Gunners, but the Argentinean midfielder may need to have an injection in his knee in order to play.
"We are assessing Julio to see if he needs the injection just to help him through these final stages of rehab," the under-fire boss told reporters.
